When Laser Cleaning Is the Better Fit

When Another Method May Be Better

Laser cleaning is not the right answer for every job. Large open blasting areas, low-value scrap surfaces, deep profile requirements or projects where finish quality is not important may be better served by blasting, grinding or another method after review.

Use a Test Area When the Outcome Is Uncertain

A representative test area can establish the removal level, visible substrate change, achievable production rate and residue-control needs before the full scope is priced. Agree in advance on the acceptance criteria: complete removal or selective cleaning, allowable staining or shadowing, required surface profile, protected adjacent materials and how the result will be inspected.

  • What finish or surface profile is required after cleaning?
  • How much shutdown, teardown or cure time can the project tolerate?
  • What secondary waste will be generated, and who is responsible for it?
  • Are nearby finishes, occupied areas, waterways or operating equipment sensitive to media, water, chemicals, dust or heat?
  • Can the contractor demonstrate the proposed result on the actual substrate?
