Laser cleaning can shorten setup by avoiding blast-media delivery, recovery, and blast-media containment. It also avoids silica controls tied to silica-containing abrasives. Removed coatings, captured contaminants, and filters remain subject to project-specific characterization, disposal, and any required waste documentation. Laser cleaning does not generate a blast-media dust cloud or require blast-media containment. Air, noise, environmental, occupancy, and confined-space requirements remain site- and project-specific. The Class 4 laser requires a controlled laser safety zone, and contaminant-specific source capture or containment may also be required.
