The Challenge

Food and beverage processing facilities face a constant tension: aggressive cleaning is required for food safety, but chemical cleaning agents leave residue that creates its own contamination risk. CIP (clean-in-place) systems use caustic and acid solutions that corrode equipment over time. COP (clean-out-of-place) requires disassembly and extended downtime.
Bakery molds accumulate baked-on dough residue. Confectionery equipment builds sugar and oil deposits. Meat processing surfaces develop biofilm. Beverage filling lines develop mineral scale. Each requires cleaning methods specific to the contaminant, and most methods leave some residue.

Laser cleaning does not introduce any substance to the surface. It removes contaminants by vaporization and captures them via HEPA filtration. The cleaned surface contains no cleaning agent residue, making it inherently compatible with food-contact requirements. Your HACCP or SQF auditor can verify this through standard surface testing.

CIP uses caustic and acid cycles that take 2-4 hours including rinse and verification. Laser cleaning adds no chemical rinse step. Cycle time and final sanitation or verification depend on the residue, equipment, facility procedure, and acceptance criteria. Test-area parameters are used to manage the stainless-steel surface response.
